Kindergarten: Working on word sorts

In one of our small reading groups, the students are working on the word family -at (cat, hat, bat, sat...) . They can match the pictures with the words, tap the sound out (tell the sounds of each letter), blend those letters together to tell the word, and they had a discussion on how the only thing that changes in these words is the beginning letter and that the -at stays the same. It doesn't stop there...they also noticed that all these words rhyme! Connections are being made each day.
